Gum Lift Treatments
What is a gum lift?
A gum lift, also referred to as gum contouring is a procedure used to expose more tooth structure due to excess gum tissue.
Beginning with a consultation, Dr Jacobson will be able to assess your mouth and talk you through the treatment process. Taking into consideration how severe your issue is, we can offer a customised solution to ensure you achieve the results you want.
The advantage of using the Gemini Laser is the treatment need not be carried out under local anaesthetic.
Actual procedures differ depending on the individual patient, but it may involve reshaping the gum tissue with laser or for severe cases, removing underlying bone by our oral surgeon, Dr Yuval Samuni.
Is a gum lift right for you?
If you feel like your gums are too high or too low, this can lead to your teeth looking disproportionate or a “gummy” smile that you may wish to correct. Gum lifts are part of our cosmetic dentistry treatments at Jacobson Dental, and could be a good solution for you if you have:
- Uneven gum lines
- Gums that look too high or too low
- Long or disproportionate teeth
- A smile that looks too “gummy”
The above conditions can be caused by the abnormal development of your teeth, genetics, or something else.
Dr Jacobson can also talk you through the options we have to strengthen your teeth and take care of your overall smile enhancement with whitening and composite veneers.

Lasers have been used in dentistry for approximately two decades and are suitable for multiple procedures, including soft tissue treatment. Available at varying powers and wavelengths, lasers can be used for procedures that would otherwise be preformed using electrosurgery or a scalpel.
Laser dentistry generates very little or zero heat and is a far gentler form of surgery. It enables soft tissue to be effectively, precisely, and safely removed with minimal to no bleeding and minimal recovery time.
Laser technology reduces discomfort and shortens the recovery period after treatment to help a “gummy smile”.
The advantages of laser soft tissue treatment in dentistry include gum lift, and periodontal treatments, ablating and removing aphthous ulcers, gingival contouring, crown lengthening, troughing, soft tissue incisions, and removing soft tissue lesions.
